Programmes Rooted in Real Village Needs
As an education NGO and non-profit organization in Bihar, IRSSA Foundation runs every activity below year-round in Meertola and surrounding villages of Araria district — built, staffed and reviewed by our local field team.
IRSSA Learning Centers
Our flagship education initiative runs 7 Learning Centers across Araria district, giving children who have no access to formal schooling a structured, daily place to learn reading, writing, mathematics and life skills — free of cost.
Classes run in two shifts to accommodate children who help their families with farm or household work, and every center is staffed by a trained local teacher supported by weekend volunteers.
Open-Air & Home-Based Learning Circles
In villages too small or remote to justify a permanent center, IRSSA runs open-air and home-based learning circles — volunteers teach directly in courtyards and community spaces using mats, slates and donated books.
This model lets us reach children in hamlets that formal infrastructure hasn't reached yet, while we work with village leaders toward a permanent center.
Women's Self-Help & Awareness Circles
IRSSA organises regular gatherings where rural women receive training in tailoring, handicrafts and basic financial literacy, alongside awareness sessions on health, hygiene and children's education.
These circles have become a trusted space where women support one another beyond the programme itself — sharing childcare, resolving disputes and pooling small savings.
Saf Water Project
Across Araria's drought and flood-affected hamlets, IRSSA has completed 1,075+ drinking water projects — each one built with a durable enclosure, sponsor plaque and a maintenance plan agreed with the local community.
Villages are prioritised through direct requests and field surveys, ensuring every installation responds to a genuine, verified need.
FoodEd Relief Programme
Through our FoodEd initiative, IRSSA volunteers distribute cooked meals, ration kits and Ramadan food packages to families facing acute hardship — particularly during monsoon flooding, when entire hamlets can be cut off for days.
To date, FoodEd has delivered 1,27,750+ meals and food kits, alongside 100+ dedicated Ramadan kits each season.
Little Angels Academy & Child Care
Little Angels Academy focuses on early-years care for the youngest children in our partner villages — combining play-based learning with nutrition support and basic health monitoring, so children arrive at primary school ready to learn.
IRSSA also runs seasonal welfare drives providing clothing, school kits and stationery to children ahead of the academic year.
Vocational & Life-Skills Training
For older students and young adults, IRSSA offers short vocational courses — tailoring, basic computer literacy and craft-based skills — designed to open a real livelihood path beyond subsistence farming.
Sessions are run in batches out of our Learning Centers during off-peak hours, keeping the classrooms in continuous use.
Moral School & Community Awareness
Our Moral School batches run values-based education sessions alongside academic classes, while community awareness programmes cover topics from girls' education to sanitation and civic participation — delivered through village meetings and school assemblies.
